They started the game on the back foot as Park maintained the ball with one up rugby from their big forwards, and a few silly penalties gave them field position where they were able to capitalise and score a try to make it 5-0.
The Wids hit straight back with some quick ball retention and shifting the ball wide to find Arnie Haydock who scored. Bobby Finch then added the conversation to give them the lead.
Wids then again got the ball wide, and some quick passing got Rueban Mafi over in the corner for back-to-back tries inside a couple of minutes. Finch’s conversion made it 14-5 in favour of the Wids.
Bobby Finch was next on the score sheet with a brace of tries using raw pace to outrun his opposition number.
Wids showed then produced some great defence in the final stages of the half against a big pack of forwards to go in leading by 27pts – 5.
The Wids made some changes at half time giving the Colts lads a well-deserved rest ahead of their Lancashire Cup game tomorrow.
The visitors again fell foul of the referee and began to concede more and more penalties which eventually led to a yellow card. This resulted in two walkover tries for Park which reduced the arrears
Fortunately, the Wids were able to respond once again, and it was left to one of the Colts players, Alfie Leyland who broke from his own half and zig-zagging his way past several defenders on his way to scoring a fine individual effort to finally secure the victory.
Coach Josh Kenyon was pleased with the performance and mentioned the efforts from man of the match Jack Gilhooley, closely followed by Bobby Finch.
The Seconds are at home next week against Southport.
