Charlie was part of the scholarship programme at Widnes Vikings but is now with Salford Red Devil’s Development Academy and plays rugby for his community club, Halton Farnworth Hornets.

To participate in the championship, players had to find individual sponsorship of £1500 which was gratefully put together through friends and local businesses.

Some of the sponsors pictured with Charlie are Sarah Leadbetter (SJ Hairdressing), Matt Blakey (Your Environment), Jack Gilhooley (JG Structural Design) and Kevin Leadbetter (Widnes RUFC). Charlie’s other sponsors are Si Smith from Well iced Therapy, Sharon and Andy McLean, and Hunter Communications.

Charlie is following in his older brother Billy’s footsteps in representing Wales at these Championships, something that wouldn’t have been possible without the support from everyone mentioned.
