A popular figure, Andy played scrum half at all club levels from late 60's though the 70's. A third team captain and stalwart of the thirds and Wasps. He served on several committees and was the member of a good 70's bar “rat pack”. The photo is from the oft-forgot first Mad Wasps tour to the North East in 1973. It’s the Tynedale game on Good Friday 20th April 1973. We won that one despite being mixed a right bottle. We looked at their team sheet and it was mostly uni students at Easter and all on their second team sheets for Holy Saturday and Easter Monday. Andy is at the front, fourth from the right. A DVD of the tour is still available.
For the record: Andy made his first team debut on Good Friday 26th April 1969 in a home game with Carmarthen. His Heritage Number is 134. He captained the 3rd XV in 1972-73 and 1976-77, with a spell as 2nd XV vice-captain in 1974-75. That season, he was an elected General Committee member.
